Pastor Donald & Yong Bornowski
Pastor Donald Bornowski grew up in a conservative Christian home in Wausau, Wisconsin. He enlisted in the United States Army in October of 1975 and retired from the service as a Chief Warrant Officer after more than twenty years of honorable service. During his military career, Pastor Don experienced worship in various combined protestant chapel services and in churches of the Charismatic, Lutheran, Methodist, Presbyterian, and Baptist denominations.
In February of 1981 Pastor Don married Yong I (Chong) in Seoul, Korea. Pastor Don and Yong have three children. JuLee and Sera are living in Louisiana while Joshua resides in Wisconsin. Pastor Don retired from the U.S. military in March of 1996 and returned to South Korea.
No matter which country the Lord called Pastor Don and Yong to live, they faithfully served the Lord together in each area of ministry to which the Lord had called them. In each church they continued to serve in a multitude of positions and activities. Don served as the chairman of the hospital ministry, chairman of the men’s fellowship, youth group leader, Sunday school teacher, children’s choir director, deacon, administrator, youth pastor, assistant pastor, and senior pastor. Yong arranged sanctuary floral displays, served as a member of the choir, cook, teacher, women’s small group leader, counselor, translator, and deacon. Pastor Don and Yong had been solid leaders in the ecumenical English speaking Tres Dias community in Seoul, Korea for many years. For multiple years Pastor Don served as the Seoul English Speaking Secretariat’s Tres Dias Spiritual Director and as a supporting clergy for this organization for many additional years. Yong served as the rectora, vice rectora, angel, table leader, worship dance director, and 13 years as the music director of the bi-cultural women’s Tres Dias.
The Victory Christian Fellowship-Kyong Ki-Do was established by Pastor Don and its first worship service was held on the 5th of February in 2003. Both Pastor Don and his wife have given their lives to blessing, serving, loving, and helping the church family to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ. Yong works tirelessly beside her husband serving the community of Songtan and the Kyong Ki-Do province. She serves as a translator, counselor, and choir director. She further assists foreigners in obtaining work through the Korean labor office and local companies, helping to resolve disputes between management and employees. Yong also prepares meals for Sunday worship services and men’s small group meetings. Her commitment to caring for the church family members.
Pastor Don was ordained by Vanguard Ministries in 2002. Ordained ministers of the Association of International Ministries (AIM) conducted a thorough theological and doctrinal evaluation of Pastor Bornowski’s Scriptural knowledge, understanding, and Christian living. Upon unanimous agreement, all board members recommended the Elder and Deacons of Victory Christian Fellowship-Kyong Ki-Do ordain him as the pastor of Victory Christian Fellowship-Kyong Ki-Do. This ordination was conducted by the Elder and Deacons on the 19th of June 2011.
Pastor Don continues his spiritual education with Rockbridge Seminary in the Masters of Ministry Leadership program. He will continue his learning by pursuing additional ministry degrees at the masters or doctorate level.
